According to Suffolk County Police, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen from a driver in the Bronx on Monday, Oct. 12.

Before the vehicle was reported stolen, two passengers in that vehicle were allegedly caught on surveillance cameras stealing from a gas station in Holbrook, and a short time later, the driver of the Jeep reportedly stole gasoline from another gas station in Middle Island.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. that evening, police said, the driver of the Jeep was driving southbound on William Floyd Parkway and ran through a red light, striking a 2008 Nissan that was traveling west across the intersection.

Three passengers in the Nissan were treated for life-threatening injuries; the driver of the Jeep and its passengers fled the scene in their stolen vehicle.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of these individuals. The group can be contacted online, via the P3Tips mobile app or by calling 800-220-TIPS.
